2010 Our World Famous Egg Drop another success! Date: April 15, 2010 - Our annual Egg Drop event  was yet another huge Pack 618 success! Many of the Cub Scouts I spoke to said they've waited for this all year. This is truly a one of kind event that everyone should cherish. Thanks again everyone!  > Pictures < Cub Scouts get together to make their Egg Drop contraptions Date: April 11, 2010 - The Webelos and Bears dens got together to share Egg Drop contraption ideas and materials. It was a wet and rainy Sunday but no one seemed to mind. Fun time for all!  > Pictures < Webelos II campout with the BS Troop 618 @ Sunset Beach Date: March 20, 2010 - Some of our Webelos II's camped with the Boy Scouts Troop 618 and moved toward their "Arrow of Light". I attended this campout and was super impressed. Special thanks goes out to the Leaders and Scouts of Troop 618! Scouts Rock!  > Campout Pictures < The Pinewood Derby Rocked! Date: March 18th, 2010 - This year's Pinewood Derby races were so well attended... although we only have 48 Scouts it seemed like we had 58 there. Scouts were having fun and the parents seemed just as captivated. It was an awesome night for which I'm certain they'll remember for a long time. Pinewood Derby "Build a Car" Sunday a success! Date: March 14th, 2010 - Many of our Scouts joined in the fun of building their Pinewood Derby cars on "Build a Car" Sunday. Thanks for everyone's help... it sure was a success! > Pictures < Our Annual Blue & Gold Dinner is a success! Date: February 18th 2010  - It seemed like all 47 Scouts made it last Pack meeting as many of our Scouts and parents attended our annual Blue and Gold dinner. The food was wonderful! I want to thank ALL that was able to bring a potluck item. Your Awesome! Cub Scouts prove the Airplane Derby is a fan favorite! Date: January 21th 2010  - The Airplane Derby proved to be a hit again as the Cub Scouts made their very own paper airplanes and raced them all night long. Some of the most creative paper airplanes you'll ever see! Webelos Den have fun with hand tool safety Date: January 11th 2010  - The Webelos Den learned the benefits of using hand tool safety while making the very cool Marshmallow shooter. Many Scouts offered common sense safety tips while hearing why using safety when using tools is important. A very Informative meeting!   - fun project  > click here  Mini Marshmallow Shooter 2009 Cub Scouts volunteer at the Second Harvest Food Bank Date: January 9th 2010  - Some of our Scouts attended a volunteer day for Community Service at the Watsonville 'Second Harvest Food Bank' to put together food bags. We all had a wonderful time! > Pictures< Pack 618 has its first ever "Cub-boreee" Date: December 17th 2009  - Our December Pack meeting was loaded with a ton of fun activates as our Scouts competed against one another in saltine cracker whistle blowing, tug of war, root beer burp competition and some musical chairs Cub Scout style! All great fun for our Scouts! Scouts honored for the Bobcat Trail! Date: December 17th, 2009 - Scouts that completed the Bobcat Trail were honored during our recent December Pack meeting. This lays the foundation for these Scouts and all Scouts to move forward in completion of their current Den's Trail. Tiger Den makes a perfect cookie gift! Date: December 12th 2009  - Tigers Cub Den meeting was a blast from what I heard with the young guys making the classic 'Cookies in a Jar' holiday Den project. Way to go Tigers! Those will taste Awesome!   - easy family project too  > click here Cookies in a Jar project Wolf Den having fun with the wreath project Date: December 5th 2009  - I joined the Wolfs for a wonderful Saturday afternoon Den meeting at Ocean View park where all of the Wolf Scouts had a chance to make their very own Christmas wreath. Date: December 5th, 2009  - Its become sort of a tradition with our Pack that we march in the Santa Cruz Holiday Parade. Its the perfect chance for our young Scouts to celebrate being a Cub Scouts with the crowd always cheering the young Scouts on. Date: November 2009  - Our Cub Scouts had yet another successful Second Harvest Food Drive by donating over 235lbs of food for needy families in the Santa Cruz area.     Way to go Scouts and families, you rock! Cardboard racers still a huge hit with Scouts! Date: November 19, 2009  - It was zoom time as the Nov pack meeting brings our super fun and high energy 'Cardboard Racers'. Also, I wanted to say thanks for all of the 2nd Harvest donations! > Pictures < Webelos go 'Trekking' at Wilder Ranch Date: November 16, 2009  - The Webelos got together for an awesome coastal hike. The coastal loop at Wilder Ranch is an amazing walk with most of it being flat and right near the ocean bluffs. It's an awesome site to see at sunset. I was so excited to hear that over 15 of our very own Cub Scouts participated in a Santa Cruz Veterans Day Ceremony at the Surfers Museum near the Wharf. Thanks for all who attended and helped out. I heard our Scouts had fun. > Pictures < Our Pumpkin Patch Fundraiser was another success! Date: October 31, 2009  - Thanks again folks! We will be releasing the final tallies later but wanted to let everyone know that our fundraiser was yet another wild success. Thanks to everyone that participated. Cub Scouts Rock! Our October Pack meeting was a Bonanza of a good time Date: October 15, 2009  - Yet another wonderful turnout with over 35 Scouts and 10 more brother and sisters. The support from the parents is awesome and this Scout Pack is Awesome! Many of the Scouts and parents loved our newest theme: Pumpkin Bonanza! > Pictures < The Wolves and Webelos work the Pumpkin Patch! Date: October 11, 2009  - What an awesome time! The Webelos and Wolves came out in support of the Pumpkin Patch Fundraiser by picking pumpkin from the patch and setting our wonderful community patch. Thanks everyone and see you at the patch! > Pictures < Cub Scouts from Pack 618 camp overnight at the boardwalk! Date: October 9, 2009  - The Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk hosted its first ever Scout overnight! Scouts had fun camping out on the Boardwalk, playing at the free arcade and do the late night flash light tour. Saturday was Pinewood Derby and free rides for all. Cool stuff! > Pictures < Santa Cruz Cub Scouts open its season with a Blast! Date: September 24, 2009  - Pack 618 started its year off with its traditional Blast -Off with Alka-Seltzer Rockets! Some 30+ Scouts packed the room and had a wonderful time. Welcome everyone and lets have another Great  Santa Cruz Cub Scout season!  Congratulations for another wonderful year! Date: May 21, 2009 - The Den Leaders of Pack 618 would like to thank everyone for another wonderful year of Cub Scouts. It's your support that is so vital for our young scouts to enjoy these life memories. Webelos II earn their "Arrow of Light" with Camporee Date: May 9, 2009 - The Webelos II camped with the Boy Scouts Troop 618 and qualified for the "Arrow of Light" Please join me in congratulating Kirby, Tony, Evan, Ian, Levi, Sergey and Sam. > Camporee Picture < Dens get together for a Survival theme Delaveaga Park hike Date: May 3, 2009 - Rain or Shine, Cub Scouts hit the trail on a Delaveaga Park hike that was "very" adventurous to say the least.  They learned hike planning and the Scouts worked on their "No Trace Left Behind" badge. Oh yeah, and the mud was fun too! > Pictures < The Webelos I and Bear Dens visit Fire Station # 2 Date: April 29, 2009 - Last Wednesday the Webelos I Den and the Bears hooked up again to take a tour of FireStation # 2 with the help of our Cub Leader Eric Aasen. Scouts got a guided tour of the FireStation as well as see everything that's on a fire engine. That was Fun!  > Pictures < Egg Drop voted # 1 Cub Scout Pack meeting event! Date: April 16, 2009 - Last night's annual Egg Drop event  was yet another huge Pack 618 success! Many of the Cub Scouts I spoke to said they've waited for this all year. Date: April 5th, 2009 - Sunday our dens got together and did a little "Egg Drop" contraption building. Everyone brought a little something to share which means we had plenty to build from. Thanks folks! > Pictures <   Everyone loves the Pinewood Derby! Date: March 20, 2009 - Everyone enjoyed our Pinewood Derby races. Remember, all Scouts are winners when they par-take in the Derby. It's a Cub Scout tradition they will remember for a lifetime. > Pictures <   Webelos visit the Santa Cruz Archery Date: March 11, 2009 - The Webelos I group had a wonderful opportunity to visit the Santa Cruz Archery yesterday and boy was it fun. Date: March 8th, 2009 - Many of our Scouts joined in the fun of building their Pinewood Derby cars on "Build a Car" Sunday. Thanks for everyone's help... it sure was a success! > Pictures located here < Webelos visit Neary Lagoon State Park Date: January 11, 2009 - Last Sunday most of our Webelos Scouts joined me in a walk and self guided tour of Neary Lagoon State Park. Park highlights wildlife conservation. If interested > Park web site The Webelos visit Henry Cowell State Park Date: January 5, 2009 - The Webelo Scouts hit the trail to see the Redwoods of Henry Cowell State Park. Although the weather was a bit damp, the Scouts had a blast running around the trail. > Park web site 2008 Scouts honored for the Bobcat Trail! Super Scouts honored at November Pack meeting Date: November 20, 2008 - This past Thursday night the Pack honored some very special Scouts for their hard work and dedication. The "Scouts help the pumpkin patch" day is a success! Date: October 25, 2008 - Our Cub Scouts deliver some pumpkins and donate lemonade stand sales :)
