Some Webelos hit the neighborhood for the Second Harvest Food Drive!

Webelos hit the neighborhood for the Second Harvest Food Drive
Webelos Scouts, Jack, William and Tiger Scout Nolan

Dateline: Santa Cruz, California - November 15, 2008

Webelos hit the neighborhood for the Second Harvest Food DriveSome Webelos hit the trail Saturday asking the local community to donate to the Second Harvest Food Drive. I walked with the Scouts and found that most people in the neighborhood are willing to help the Scouts.

Just an email away from a good time.

William's Dad, Roger emailed the Webelos Den looking for folks that could walk with William for the Scouts food drive. While most Webelos (understandably) had other obligations on this the last Saturday of the Soccer season... three  Scouts still were able to get out and make an impact.

The Scouts collected what amounted to a couple of bags of food for what will be under privileged families who need support from the Second Harvest Food Bank of Watsonville.

Webelos hit the neighborhood for the Second Harvest Food DriveNovember is considered a month of reflecting and giving thanks for everything we as scouts have in life. It's also a food and sharing month so its ideal for our scouts to give back to the less fortunate in our community and help the Second Harvest Food Bank collect some food for the needy.

Second Harvest Collection, November's Pack meeting
How it works -
Ideally, you and your cub scout will go to each of your neighbors and ask that they donate one or two canned food items in support of the Second Harvest collection. If time is tight and you still want to donate, it is suggested that you and your family go to Safeway and purchase a bag of canned food for donation. If that isn't in the plan... then please bring a can or two to our November Pack meeting to fill our Pack "Brown Bag".

Most Needed Food -
Peanut Butter - Beans - Canned Fruits and Vegetables - Tuna - Canned Meat - Stew Soup - Pasta - Cereal - Meals in a can - Fruit Juice - Canned Foods with pop-top lids

Scouts, this patch is easy to earn!
Parents, this is a great opportunity for your Scout to earn a "Food Drive" patch for his uniform.
Please note: patch design might change based on availability

Motto "Fill a Brown Bag with hope"

Way to go Scouts!
